Before she can react, the mist lunges at her, forcing its way into her nose and mouth. Nancy chokes, trying to scream, but the black mist continues to invade her body. Her eyes roll back, and she collapses to the floor, convulsing. LATER INT. WHEELER HOUSE - KITCHEN - MORNING The Wheeler family is gathered around the kitchen counter, eating breakfast. Mike Wheeler (14) is absent-mindedly eating his cereal while reading a comic book. Karen Wheeler (42), their mother, is reading the newspaper, occasionally sipping her coffee. Ted Wheeler (45), their father, is buttering a piece of toast. Nancy enters the kitchen, her eyes sunken and her face pale. No one really notices at first - until she starts making herself breakfast... raw meat. MIKE: (looking up) Seriously, Nancy? That's disgusting. Karen looks up from her newspaper and gasps, horrified. KAREN: Nancy! What are you doing?! NANCY: (in a monotone voice) I need it. TED: (confused) Need what? Nancy takes a mouthful of raw meat, blood trickling from her lips. Ted and Karen stare in disbelief, while Mike looks like he's about to throw up. MIKE: Mom, there's something wrong with her... Just as they're about to approach Nancy, she looks up with a sinister smile. Her eyes have turned jet black. NANCY: There is nothing wrong with me. The possessed Nancy adopts a sly, aggressive tone as she speaks. NANCY: (continuing) Soon, you'll see. You'll all see. She drops the raw meat and leaves the kitchen, leaving her horrified family behind. TED: (panicking) I'm calling that Byers boy. Maybe they'll know what to do. They watch helplessly as Nancy, under the control of the Mind Flayer, ascends the stairs with an evil grin. This is what I've always wanted. All those years of being perfect...it's time for a change. She picks up a photo of her friends, Barb and Jonathan. Her eyes darken as she sees Barb's face. Suddenly, Will Byers (14) enters the room, visibly frightened but determined to confront Nancy. Nancy stops talking and stares menacingly at her younger brother. The friends, now filled with determination and dread, leave Nancy's room to confront the darkness that has engulfed her and threatens to consume their town.

I'm connecting with something far greater than any human ever could. I'm becoming...evil. The Mind Flayer's presence grows stronger, clouds gathering outside the windows as the room darkens. Nancy steps forward, and the shadows seem to gather around her. MIKE We have to do something! The group starts panicking, searching for a way to help Nancy before it's too late. NANCY (evil laugh) It's too late for that. I can feel the power growing within me. I am the vessel for the Mind Flayer. Together, we'll bring destruction to this pathetic town and complete the end of your world. Nancy's eyes turn jet black, and tendrils of shadow extend from her body, lashing out at the group, only barely missing them. The fight against the Mind Flayer has reached an entirely new level. Nancy, a beloved member of their tight-knit circle, has willingly allowed the darkness to take hold of her soul.

Nancy hesitates for a moment, looks at the worried faces of friends and family, then sighs. NANCY (slowly) All this time... I've suppressed a dark desire within me. I've always been curious about what it feels like to unleash true power... to be evil. To embrace it. STEVE (stunned) Nancy, what the hell? Eleven stares at Nancy, trying to process her words. JONATHAN (panicked) Nancy, don't say that! You don't mean it. NANCY (teary-eyed) But I do. What if I took control of the Mind Flayer instead? Used him for our own protection? I've already made my decision. *Eerie whispers echo throughout the room as tendrils of black fog seep through the window.* Mike: (shouting in desperation) Nancy, please, don't do this! *Nancy raises her arms, welcoming the Mind Flayer. As the dark tendrils wrap around her and engulf her body, her laughter echoes through the room.* Nancy: (voice demonic) It's too late, Michael.
