CHATBOT: INT. GYMNASIUM - BASKETBALL COURT - AFTER SCHOOL The gym is packed with enthusiastic students there to watch the basketball practice. The basketball players, Yosuke, Kanji, Teddie, and a few others, are warming up on the court. Over in the bleachers, the Angels are sitting together, Chie in the center position. Rise is blowing bubblegum bubbles while Naoto and Yukiko chat about the latest gossip. They keep stealing glances at the players down on the court. CHIE (first smirking) This should be interesting. Let's see what he's got. YU (V.O.) You can count on it. The camera pans down to Yu standing confidently on the basketball court. He is dressed in basketball attire and meets Yosuke eye to eye. YOSUKE Let's make this simple: we'll do a one-on-one match. If you can score on me, you're in. YU You're on. The match begins with both boys showing incredible skill. The crowd cheers and whispers among themselves as Yu impressively gives Yosuke a run for his money on the court. KANJI, TEDDIE (to each other, impressed) This guy's not bad! Chie is getting more and more intrigued by Yu's prowess. CHIE (to the Angels) He's definitely got the skills. RISE Like, no kidding. Maybe he'll teach me a thing or two. YUKIKO He might just win this... NAOTO I never expected this level of competition. As the match reaches its climax, Yosuke and Yu are almost evenly matched. With a sudden burst of energy, Yu manages to score the winning point. The game is over, and the gymnasium explodes in cheers and applause. Yu turns and looks at Chie, smirking confidently. YU You said I needed luck, but I guess skill was all I needed. Chie, stunned and even more interested in Yu, opens her mouth to speak just as the Angels gather around her. RISE Like, wow! He really beat Yosuke! YUKIKO I can't believe it. NAOTO Indeed, he is certainly a skilled player. Yosuke, Teddie, and Kanji gather around Yu, clapping him on the back. YOSUKE Fine, you've proven yourself. Welcome to the team, man. KANJI Yeah, don't mess this up, got it? TEDDIE You've got potential, that's for sure. Chie and the Angels approach Yu, offering their respect and congratulations. CHIE Alright, you've proven yourself. Welcome to the inner circle. YASOGAMI HIGH SCHOOL - DAY An alternate universe of Inaba, where the protagonists of Persona 4 are not the kind, lovable characters we know, but rather a group of morally corrupt and unethical individuals. Yu, the new kid in town, walks into Yasogami High School, looking confident and prepared for his new life. He's already heard of the notoriously popular group of friends, and plans to join them in their sinister ways. Yu spots Yosuke, Chie, Kanji, Naoto, Rise, and Teddie hanging out near their lockers. Yosuke is holding a basketball and chatting with the rest of the group. YOSUKE (stares at Yu) Hey, fresh meat! You must be the new kid, huh? You look like you could handle yourself in a good fight. YU (smirks) You bet I can. Chie, the queen bee of Yasogami High School and Yosuke's girlfriend, comes forward and sizes up Yu. CHIE New kid, huh? I bet you think you're hot stuff. Well, don't get too ahead of yourself. I run this place, and you'd better remember that. YU Oh, don't worry. I've heard all about you and your gang, and I don't plan on getting in your way. The rest of the group, including Kanji, Naoto, and Yukiko, checks out Yu appraisingly. Rise, a bubbly cheerleader, snaps her bubblegum as she steps forward. RISE Like, are you here to join our little crew or something? YU (smiles) I think I could be a valuable addition to your group. Yukiko, a proud cheerleader, smiles too but retains her distance. YUKIKO We'll see about that. You've got to prove yourself, new kid. Kanji, the violent and vulgar basketball player, cracks his knuckles and laughs. KANJI Yeah, we need to see you can handle yourself in a good brawl, too. And maybe, if you're good enough, we'll let you into our club. Teddie, the all-around popular and creative guy, nods approvingly. TEDDIE Just don't forget about us when you become basketball captain someday, alright? YOSUKE (smirks) Alright, new kid. You're in. You're part of the crew now. Just remember our motto around here: if you're not a douchebag, you're nothing. YU (smiling) I'll do my best. Yu officially becomes part of the morally questionable group, quickly rising in popularity and ranking in school, even catching the eye of Rise, who becomes his girlfriend. Together, they continue to bully their way through the halls of Yasogami High and embrace their alternate reality. FADE OUT.

Yosuke, Kanji, and Yu are playing an aggressive game of basketball, while the rest of their friends sit on the bleachers and watch them. Rise chews bubblegum loudly, flirting with her new boyfriend Yu every chance she gets. On the other side of the gym, a small group of shy, socially awkward students is practicing volleyball, clearly out of their element and struggling to keep up with the rigorous rules of the sport. Chie notices the awkward students and grins maliciously, nudging Naoto and Yukiko in their direction. CHIE (laughing) Oh, this is just pathetic. Let's teach them a lesson, girls. Naoto looks over at Kanji and smiles sweetly. NAOTO Hey, babe, we're going to go mess with the losers. You in? KANJI Didn't plan on spending my day any other way. YOSUKE (shouting) Hey, Yu! New-kid initiation time! You're coming with us to taunt these sad sacks. Yu puffs up his chest, now comfortable in his role among the bullies. YU Let's do it. The gang storms over to the group of struggling volleyball players. As Yosuke, Yu, and Kanji start verbally degrading them with insults, Chie, Naoto, Rise, and Yukiko laugh obnoxiously. YOSUKE You call that a serve? My grandma could do better, and she's been dead for five years! KANJI (laughs) Is there even a gym class for people who suck this bad? Chie motions for Naoto, Rise, and Yukiko to start a chant as she jumps up and down, clapping her hands mockingly. CHIE (spells out) L-O-S-E-R, that's what you are, what you'll always be! Loser! RISE Like, seriously, you guys are sooo bad, it's, like, embarrassing. The bullied students stare at the ground, ashamed and powerless to do anything against the popular gang. Suddenly, Yu spots an opportunity to assert his dominance even further. He grabs a basketball from the rack and dribbles it across the gym floor, aiming directly at the shy, timid student attempting to serve the volleyball. Yu throws the basketball with all his might, and it smashes into the student's face, sending them tumbling to the ground. The gym falls silent, and the gang of bullies laughs uproariously. YU (smugly) Nothing like a good initiation, right? Yosuke slaps Yu on the back, impressed by his ruthlessness. YOSUKE Welcome to the group, man. You're one of us now. The gang walks away victoriously, leaving the humiliated and broken-hearted students in their wake. FADE OUT.
