I'm loading in the logline and summary for my screenplay. Don't do anything with it. I just want you to know what it's about cause I'm going to have you help me re-write some of the action scenes. EVIL GHOST SONIC GUNS Logline: In "Evil Ghost Sonic Guns," a darkly comedic horror-action adventure, an experimental musician discovers her unique sounds might be humanity's only defense against a mind-shredding ghost invasion, if she can reconcile with the spectral child from her troubled past. ELEVATOR PITCH The first thing you need to know is the southwestern US is under attack. Not by guns that blast a bullet in your chest but by sonic weapons that tear a hole in your mind and fill it with ghosts. These sound frequencies create such crazy terror in people that they kill themselves and each other in ways beyond the bounds of natural understanding. It's an invasion that's ghostly, but the question remains: are these spirits a haunting reality or hallucinations caused by the ghost guns? And into this steps DENISE, an underground electronic musician and a recovering drug addict with a fuck you attitude that has kept her booked at the small side stages of festivals despite the WOW factor of her junkyard jungle of sound technology. So when the campout rave Denise is performing at is attacked by a mysterious gunman armed with a sonic ghost gun, what she discovers is that somehow, her cacophony of sound is enough to protect those in earshot from the "pseudo" supernatural ghost attacks. Which is great news except Denise doesn't know quite how she created the sound. Denise's accidental breakthrough puts her squarely in the sights of the enigmatic and sardonic FBI Agent Robert Habercorn, a seasoned FBI operative entrenched in the bizarre. His mission? Recruit Denise's uncanny audio-talent to combat the escalating phantom warfare. For Denise, the catch isn't just re-engineering her sonic fluke; it's silencing the child apparition from her past - a relentless spirit tied to a guilt-ridden memory she can't escape. Despite being told that the ghost is a mere hallucination--a byproduct of the sonic weapon's eerie effects--both Denise and Agent Habercorn feel there's truth to the child's presence The spectral child makes an ultimatum: make amends or she won't lead them to the dooms day cult behind the attacks, leaving the planet vulnerable to imminent evil ghost domination. As the countdown to apocalypse ticks on, Denise must confront her guilt, master her creation, and step up as the unexpected hero in a symphony of survival. "Evil Ghost Sonic Guns" pulsates with an electrifying mix of gritty action, biting humor, and heart-thumping horror. Imagine the raw energy of an underground music scene clashing with paranormal pandemonium - all woven into a narrative that promises to rock both the senses and the spirit. This isn't just a film; it's the opening note of the next great horror-action franchise, riveting audiences with its immersive soundtrack and innovative scares. Get ready for a tempo of terror that sets a new rhythm for the battle between this world and the next. _______________________________________ At heart this thing is a rollercoaster ride. It's an action packed descent in terror featuring riotously funny characters that would love to kill each other, if they weren't the only ones that could stop the EVIL GHOST SONIC GUNS. Yes, you just saw that billboard on Sunset and yes EGSG is a franchise. 7. Brightburn (2019) - The subversion of expected tropes by adding horror elements to what might otherwise be a superhero origin story. The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020) - Blends horror with comedic elements, continuing the story of a young boy battling satanic forces. 2. Happy Death Day 2U (2019) - Combines comedy, science fiction, and horror with a protagonist reliving the same day (and her death) over and over. 3. The Dead Don't Die (2019) - A zombie horror-comedy with a diverse cast dealing with the supernatural in a tongue-in-cheek manner. 4. Freaky (2020) - A mix of body-swap comedy and slasher horror where a teenage girl switches bodies with a deranged serial killer. 5. Jiu Jitsu (2020) - Although more of an action science fiction film, it does feature an otherworldly horror aspect with a touch of humor. 6. Love and Monsters (2020) - Fits into the action and comedy genres with a light-hearted approach to a post-apocalyptic world filled with giant monsters. 7. Color Out of Space (2019) - A horror-science fiction film with otherworldly elements, based on H.P. Lovecraft's story, which could inspire the atmosphere of your concept. 8. Synchronic (2019) - A sci-fi thriller with dark and surreal elements where a designer drug can alter one's experience of time, somewhat akin to sonic weapons altering the mind. 9. Underwater (2020) - Combines action and horror as a team of researchers at the bottom of the ocean encounter creatures after an earthquake. 10. Bloodshot (2020) - An action film with elements of science fiction that's more serious but could share the high-octane aspect of your pitch. While none of these films might match the unique combination of horror, action, comedy, and science fiction with sonically-induced ghosts as your screenplay, they do share certain themes and genres. Your pitch's particular mix seems to fill a niche that hasn't been recently represented squarely by any single film, which suggests its originality in the current marketplace. Any in the last two years? In the last two years (2021-2023), the movie landscape has continued to offer diverse genre blends, but identifying films with a close match to your specific combination of horror, action, comedy, and science fiction with a unique plot involving sound-based weapons can be challenging. Nonetheless, here are a few recent movies that might share some thematic, tonal, or genre elements with your concept for "Evil Ghost Sonic Guns": 1. Malignant (2021) - Directed by James Wan, this horror movie blends in action and has some unexpectedly campy and comedic moments. It revolves around a woman experiencing visions of murders that are connected to a dark secret from her past. 2. Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021) - This film revives the classic comedy-horror-action blend of the original Ghostbusters movies, though it doesn't have the sonic weapons element of your concept. 3. Don't Look Up (2021) - While not a horror movie, this satirical comedy with sci-fi elements deals with a looming global catastrophe, and it features characters from different walks of life coming together in the face of disaster. 4. The Trip (2021) - This Norwegian film falls more on the action-comedy side, with dark humor and a couple finding themselves in a kill-or-be-killed situation. It has elements of psychological horror but not supernatural ones. 5. Black Phone (2021) - Noted for its blend of horror and thriller genres, it also includes supernatural elements. Although comedy isn't central to it, there are moments of levity. 6. Slaxx (2020) - This horror-comedy about a pair of possessed jeans contains social satire and bloody mayhem, exemplifying a unique premise akin to the distinctiveness of your story. 7. Willy's Wonderland (2021) - A horror-comedy-action film that features Nicolas Cage battling animatronic monsters in a twisted amusement park setting. Synopsis: As unexplained suicides and homicides wreak havoc across the southwestern United States, a terrifying truth emerges: the violence is triggered by a new breed of sonic weaponry that rips through the psyche, materializing one's deepest fears into lethal apparitions. At the epicenter of chaos, we meet Denise, a fiercely independent underground electronic musician with more than just beats battling her demons. Her custom-engineered soundscape - an accident of her auditory experiments - inadvertently becomes a sanctuary from the spectral onslaught. INT. EDUARDO'S WORK LAB - NIGHT Eduardo's garage has undergone a remarkable transformation, now serving as an impressive computer lab filled with state-of-the-art machines. He's asleep on a couch in the corner, spooning with the sonic weapon. Suddenly, Eduardo's eyes shoot wide open and he wakes up to find looking down at him are three human sized creatures that resemble praying mantis humanoids. EDUARDO Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! The sky flickers with the TV static. CUT TO: EXT. EDUARDO'S LAB - MORNING Eduardo wakes up for real. DISSOLVE TO: LATER Eduardo places the gun on the table of a CT scanner. The imaging tube emits a series of beams which penetrate the object, capturing its internal structure from various angles and multidimensional views. Eduardo studies the images; his look of amazement quickly transforms into panic. EDUARDO WHAT HAVE YOU GOTTEN ME INTO BASTARD! JLO (O.S.) I have your coffee. JLo rolls in carrying a coffee setup. JLO Would you rather me prepare for you a Yogi Tea Honey Lavender Stress Relief Soothing Serenity Blend? EDUARDO No thank you JLo. I need you to look at this. Eduardo points to a long row of stones inside the base of the gun's muzzle. EDUARDO Can you identify what kind of stones these are? JLO Smoky Topaz. EDUARDO Isn't that the same thing as Smoky Quartz? INT. EDUARDO'S WORK LAB - NIGHT The former clutter of Eduardo's garage is now an unrecognizable high-tech haven. Sleek monitors glow silently in the dark, reflecting off polished surfaces of an arsenal of technical wizardry. In one dimly lit corner, Eduardo slumbers unevenly on a leather couch, the sonic weapon nestled in his arms like a lover. In the unsettling silence, a distinct static fizz cuts the air. It's an intrusive, teeth-gritting sound that puts the hairs on the back of your neck on end. EDUARDO's eyes snap open as he wrenches himself upright, instantly alert. A surge of adrenaline courses through him as he locks eyes with three nightmarish human-sized mantis-like creatures, their translucent wings quivering softly in the artificial light. EDUARDO (staggered yelp) Ahhhhhh! Their slender appendages hover inches from his face, twitching with an otherworldly menace. Eduardo scrambles back, pressing into the couch as if trying to merge with it for protection. The creatures lean in closer, their compound eyes unblinking. The room flickers sporadically, stricken by a sudden interference, warping reality into a frenetic dance of TV static. CUT TO: EXT. EDUARDO'S LAB - MORNING Beneath the gentle swaying of a wind chime, Eduardo jerks awake, drenched in daylight and a cold sweat. He is alone, the terror of the night now just echoes in his mind. EDUARDO (panting) It was just a dream. DISSOLVE TO: LATER Focused and meticulous, Eduardo sets the sonic weapon atop the mechanized bed of the CT scanner. He punches commands into the nearby terminal. The machine whirs to life, its imaging tube encircling the gun, sending through it a lattice of invisible beams that read its secrets. As the computer stitches together layers of data, Eduardo's eyes widen in disbelief. The screen reveals an intricate latticework of crystals nestled within the weapon's core. EDUARDO (frantic) What the hell is this thing? JLO (O.S.) (breezy, distant) Morning, Eduardo. Got your coffee right here. JLo sweeps into the room, her presence a soothing contrast to Eduardo's electric anxiety. She wheels in a cart, its top brimming with an assortment of coffee and tea essentials, an aromatic cloud steaming above. JLO (contemplatively) On second thought, maybe a Yogi Tea Honey Lavender Stress Relief blend would be more your speed today? EDUARDO (clenching his jaw) Forget the coffee. Look at this, JLo. He gestures to the screen, pointing to the serpentine arrangement of stones embedded deep within the gun's muzzle. JLO (curiously) That, my dear Eduardo, is smoky topaz. EDUARDO (interrogating) Isn't that just another name for smoky quartz? JLo flashes a grin, beaming with the satisfaction of sharing her knowledge. JLO Nope, they're cousins in the crystal family. Similar, but not the same. JLo's smile widens knowingly, adding an extra flicker of intrigue to an already mysterious morning. Eduardo stares at the screen, the weight of the hidden complexity within the weapon pressing down on him. He senses that this is only the beginning of a much deeper enigma, one that stretches beyond the realm of cutting-edge technology and into the shadows of the supernatural. FADE OUT.
