With the hope of mending fences and rebuilding trust, the king sent his messengers to Ravenswood with offerings of peace and goodwill, and an invitation for a night of merriment, feasting, and revelry. Underneath the veneer of reconciliation, however, dark and sinister intent was festering. The invitation was, in truth, a clever ruse to ensnare Lord Wystan and put an end to his insubordination. In the shadows, King Eadric had instructed his loyal knights and men-at-arms to subtlely position themselves throughout the castle, eagerly awaiting a signal that would initiate their master plan. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the castle in an ethereal, golden glow, Lord Wystan, along with his wife Lady Rowena, and their two children, arrived at the castle.
