These monsters were more aggressive and unpredictable than their normal counterparts, making them harder to hunt. The story begins on Hakolo Island, where twin siblings, Slash and Silence, had lived all their lives. They were the descendants of the protagonist of "Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin". Slash was an aggressive hunter, while Silence was more calculative and patient. Together, they set out to hunt the Erroneous monsters that had been terrorizing the island. Their battle buddy was Silence's monstie, Screech, a Somnacanth. On their hunt, they stumbled across an injured Rathalos that was being attacked by an Erroneous Astalos. They managed to drive off the Erroneous Astalos, but not before it had taken a heavy toll on the Rathalos. They decided to help the Rathalos and brought it back to Mahana Village. There, they learned that the Rathalos was Dreadking Ratha, a descendant of Razewing Ratha. Dreadking Ratha had had experiences with humans before and was one of the more calm Rathalos out there. It was not long before the siblings bonded with Dreadking Ratha and decided to make it their first monstie. As they ventured out to hunt more Erroneous monsters, they soon realized that there was something different about these monsters. They were much stronger and more aggressive than before. It was then that they learned about the Petals of Pandemonium and its ability to corrupt monsters. Their first mission was to hunt down the Erroneous Astalos that they had encountered before. This time, they were prepared. With Dreadking Ratha by their side, they managed to take down the Erroneous Astalos and purify it. They soon realized that the Petals of Pandemonium was the source of the corruption, and they made it their mission to find and stop the elder dragon.
