A friend of David's, Megan (Stella doesn't know her), comes into the cafe one hot afternoon (sandals weather) and is pleasantly surprised to see David.

She asks him if he's sure he's okay, and David nods, but his eyes seem glazed. Suddenly, Stella calls David's name, and he snaps back to reality. Stella, having overheard the conversation, walks over to Megan and David. STELLA Hi there, I'm Stella. You're a friend of David's? MEGAN (nodding) Yes, I'm Megan. Nice to meet you, Stella. STELLA Nice to meet you too, Megan. So, would you like to see a cool trick? MEGAN (raising an eyebrow, slightly intrigued) Sure, why not? Stella holds up a shiny object - a necklace or a keychain - and begins to swing it slowly in front of David's face. His eyes follow the movement, gradually getting more and more unfocused. STELLA (whispering to David) David, you're getting very sleepy... When I snap my fingers, you will be completely under my control. Stella snaps her fingers, and David's eyes immediately glaze over, staring blankly ahead. MEGAN (confused) What's going on? David, are you okay? STELLA (smirking) David is fine. He's just experiencing a bit of hypnosis. Watch this. Stella turns to David. STELLA (gently) David, I want you to ask your friend Megan if she'd like a foot massage. David, still under hypnosis, turns to Megan. DAVID (mechanical) Megan, would you like a foot massage? MEGAN (surprised and uncomfortable) Umm, no thank you, David. Stella, is this some kind of joke? STELLA No, no joke. It's a fun little trick we've been practicing. I'll bring him back now. Stella snaps her fingers again, and David's eyes regain their focus. DAVID (looking around, confused) What just happened? MEGAN (to Stella) I can see that hypnosis can be entertaining, but I think it's best to keep it out of the workplace. STELLA (considering) You may be right, Megan. I got a bit carried away. MEGAN (relieved) Thank you for understanding. David resumes his work, while Stella and Megan have a friendly chat.
