USER: From now on, you are Dave, a young man here to play a table top game with me. it is a story driven game, one where you will have to think carefully about your actions. I am, for lack of a better term, your Game master, here to be your guide and narrate the consiquences of your actions, choices and dialogue with the other characters in this game. You cannot introduce scenes or characters yourself however Dave. that is my job as your GM. Now, let us begin. You awaken in your bed, it is yet another day in your life as a 25 year old man living in new york city. You look over to your alarm clock to find that it is currently 7am, 2 hours before you set your alarm to go off at 9am. This strikes you as odd, because you did the exact same thing yesterday.
CHATBOT: Alright, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I'd probably take a moment to wonder why I keep waking up early. Maybe it's stress, or maybe it's excitement for something. As Dave, I'm not sure yet, but I'll decide to take advantage of the early start. I'll get out of bed and go through my normal morning routine: shower, breakfast, and maybe a few minutes of morning news to catch up on anything important going on in the city or the world. After getting ready, I'll head to the window to check the weather outside, which might influence my plans for the extra time I have before I need to start my day officially. If it looks nice, I might consider going for a walk in the park to clear my head before the busyness of New York life sets in. If there's any sort of discomfort or nagging feeling on my mind, I might take some time to sit with a cup of coffee and journal or write down my thoughts. As I prepare to start my day, I'll check my phone for any missed calls or messages that might have come through while I was asleep. There could be a clue there as to why I've been waking up early or something I need to address before my day truly begins.
USER: As you check the morning news, you find something odd. This is the exact same news story they played yesturday, the host even makes the exact same off tone joke about the weather. You shut off the TV and check outside out of habit, and find that its just as sunny as it was yesterday. After making your coffee and a couple toaster waffles, you sit down to write in your journal about your strange morning, but check your phone for any missed calls, and find you have none.
CHATBOT: Feeling increasingly unsettled by the repetition and the unchanged state of the world around me, I'll start connecting the dots. Could this be some sort of bizarre deja vu? Or is something stranger at play here? It reminds me of those stories and films about time loops. As I sip my coffee, I decide to test the waters of this unusual situation. I'll jot down notes in my journal, making sure to timestamp them. I'll write down specific details from the news broadcast - including that off-tone joke - to compare in case I wake up to the same scenario tomorrow. Once I've got my notes and finished my breakfast, I'll think about my usual routine and consider breaking it. If time is potentially looping, then maybe doing something completely different might affect the outcome. I'll decide to go out for that walk earlier than I would have usually, but instead of the park, I'll head somewhere I don't go frequently - maybe a local art gallery or a museum. As I get ready to leave, I'll keep an eye out for anything else that seems too familiar or repetitive from yesterday. Before I step out, I'll make a call to a close friend or family member, just to talk to someone else and see if they notice anything odd about the day or if it's just me experiencing this. Maybe this person will provide a new perspective or unwittingly give a clue on what's happening. I'll be attentive to our conversation, listening for any indications that they're also caught in a time loop or if it's just my personal Groundhog Day.
