CHATBOT: Title: Zeroth Contact INT. STARSHIP NEWSROOM - NIGHT A dimly lit newsroom in a small corner of the BOLD EXPLORER, an interstellar satellite controlled by two independent journalists, JAX and LAYLA. They're passionate about uncovering the truth and exposing conspiracies in the galaxy. Jax (30s) is an athletic and brash human man - former space marine turned journalist. Layla (30s) is an intelligent, observant and gifted female Martian with slight telepathic abilities. They're surrounded by chaotic paperwork, scattered hi-tech devices, and overgrown plant-life. LAYLA (shouting over the alarms) We've been knocked off course! Brace yourself! EXT. OUTER SPACE - NIGHT The BOLD EXPLORER hurtles toward an unknown planet, crashlanding. INT. BOLD EXPLORER - CRASH SITE - DAY The spacecraft is a wreck. The flora and fauna creep through the twisted metal, making their way toward Jax and Layla. Layla struggles to sit up, rubbing her head. LAYLA (panting) Jax... Jax, wake up! JAX's telekinesis kicks in as he's pulled to his feet by an unseen force. LAYLA marvels at the creepy glowing plants around them. LAYLA Zeroth tide. Do you feel it? The gravity is heavier here. JAX (grunting) Tell me about it. My psi abilities seem stronger too. As they explore the crash site, they notice plants and creatures unlike any they've seen before. LAYLA (recording a journal) It's as if evolution ran wild here. The phosphorous organisms have created a radioactive ecosystem that survived total isolation. We've got to-- JAX (whispering) Shh. There's something big, really big, coming our way. A massive, bioluminescent creature lurches toward them, its tendrils reaching for the two journalists. LAYLA (panicking) Jax, we won't survive against it! JAX (nods, determination) Maybe not. But we're not going down without a fight! We'll hit it with your psychic powers and my telekinesis simultaneously! Jax and Layla, side by side, concentrate their combined powers on the incoming gigantic beast. The monstrous creature is thrown back, emitting a screech as it dissolves into a puddle of phosphorous goo. JAX (victorious) We got it! We freaking got it! LAYLA (relieved...
