USER: Barney's body is bubbling with nerves, and he lets out a sigh, hoping that would be effective in expelling them. If anything, it makes his heart race all the more. He doesn't mind, though. How can he? In a few short moments, Robin is going to walk down that aisle in that beautiful dress--he somewhat regrets seeing her in it; he would've liked to see her in it for the first time as they were getting ready to get married--and they were going to start their new life together. Marshall and Lily are up there with him, Lily on his left with Patrice, Marshall on his right by himself. Barney's slightly annoyed. Ted's his best friend, and he's late. He wonders what he's doing, and Barney thinks that perhaps he might be lamenting the fact that he isn't the one marrying Robin. Barney doesn't feel too bad about it, though; it just didn't work out between them, and Barney loves Robin more than he ever thought possible. He notices the guests getting a bit antsy. His mother looks over her shoulder, nearly getting out of her seat to see where Robin and her dad are. "Where's Ted?" Lily whispers, stepping over to Marshall's side. "Maybe he had a tuxedo malfunction." "Come on, Marshall, really?" "Hey, it's possible." Barney takes another deep breath. It's going to be fine. Ted's going to be here, and then Robin will enter. Everything is going to be fine. The minutes roll by, and Ted still isn't here. Neither is Robin. Even if Ted doesn't show up, she still should. His heart races a little faste...
CHATBOT: Barney is barely aware of anything as he's led into a small side room. The walls are a dull beige, and the only furniture is a small couch and a couple of chairs. Lily and Marshall set him down on the couch, and he feels like he's sinking into it. Everything seems unreal, like he's in a dream world where nothing makes sense. Marshall and Lily sit down on either side of him, and he can feel their concern radiating off of them. He doesn't know what to do or say. He feels like he's lost the most important thing in his life, and he doesn't know how to move forward from here. "Do you want to talk about it?" Lily asks gently. Barney shakes his head, not trusting his voice. He feels like if he opens his mouth, he'll start sobbing, and he doesn't want to break down in front of his friends. Silence stretches between them, and Barney feels like he's suffocating in it. He doesn't know how much time has passed when there's a knock on the door, and Marshall gets up to answer it. Ted is standing in the doorway, looking anxious and guilty. Barney feels raw anger bubbling up inside of him at the sight of him. He wants to yell and scream, to make Ted pay for what he's done. But he knows that won't solve anything. He takes a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. "Hey, Barney," Ted says softly. Barney doesn't say anything, just stares at Ted with a burning intensity. "I'm so sorry," Ted says, his voice choking up. "I didn't mean for any of this to happen. I just wanted Robin to be happy..." "Save it," Barney snaps, his anger getting the better of him. "I don't want to hear anything from you." He gets up from the couch, and Marshall and Lily move aside to let him pass. Without looking back, he stalks out of the room, his mind a jumbled mess of pain and confusion. He doesn't know what he's going to do now, but he knows one thing for sure: he can never forgive Robin, Ted, or anyone else involved in this mess. The pain is too deep, and the wound too fresh.
