USER: Make an extract on a thread from a Mass Effect-universe version of alternatehistory.com on the Extranet entitled "WI: Longer First Contact War" with posters debating on what a longer First Contact War would have entailed for humanity, the Turians, and the Citadel Council and it being full of debates in-universe. Have it be in 2184 as well.
CHATBOT: Thread: WI: Longer First Contact War Posted by: SpectreInTheShadows (2184) Hello, fellow Alternative History enthusiasts! Recently, there has been much discussion about the long-lasting effects of the First Contact War, and I couldn't help but wonder what the galaxy would look like if the First Contact War had lasted longer than its relatively short span. How would the relationships between humanity, the Turians, and the Citadel Council have changed? Would humanity have ever joined the council? Would the state of galactic politics be drastically different? Discuss your thoughts on this alternate history below! ----------------------------------- Posted by: RelayRunner12 (2184) Great topic! I think that if the First Contact War had lasted longer, humanity might have lost out on our chance to become a council species. The Turians are known for their military prowess, and with their backing from the Council, I doubt humanity would have stood a chance against these foes in a more drawn-out conflict. The galaxy would be a very different place, with humanity struggling to maintain a foothold among the more established species. ----------------------------------- Posted by: xxCitadelObserverxx (2184) I disagree, RelayRunner12. While the Turians do have a reputation for their military skills, we can't forget that humanity's rapid technological advancements and adaptability played a significant role in ending the conflict quickly. A longer war might have given us even more opportunities to demonstrate our strength and resilience, potentially gaining the admiration and support of the other Council species. Humanity might have actually become a stronger galactic force if we'd been tried by a longer conflict. ----------------------------------- Posted by: Earthborn2182 (2184) But we also have to consider the potential costs of a prolonged conflict. Regardless of the outcome, a longer war would have led to increased destruction, loss of life, and destabilization of local systems. How would this have impacted the subsequent galactic events, such as the Geth attacks or the Reaper threat? It's possible that humanity's strained resources and lack of Council support might have left us vulnerable to even greater threats. ----------------------------------- Posted by: NoveriaFreezeframe (2184) One thing that cannot, in my opinion, be ignored is that a longer First Contact War would have focused the eyes of the galaxy on humanity far more strongly. I believe this would have le...

Have the people there be ordinary posters and history nerds with a human bias (after all, it bestarted out as a human website) in 2184 as well.terms of user base, with the thread being made in 2184.
CHATBOT: Thread Title: WI: Longer First Contact War Opened by: Earthling2184 Date: 03.02.2184 Earthling2184: Hey there history buffs! Lately, I've been pondering about the First Contact War and how things might have turned out if the conflict had lasted longer. It was a pretty brief conflict after all, but what if things had escalated? I think we could have seen some serious consequences for not just humanity, but also the Turians and even the Citadel Council. Thoughts? AdAstraFan: While it might sound interesting, I think a longer war between humans and Turians would have mostly hurt us. Even though we're great at adapting, our tech and military infrastructure were relatively limited compared to them at that time. Fighting a protracted war could've stalled our introduction to the galactic community, and considering how self-absorbed the Citadel races can be, I doubt they'd have intervened. HumanHistoryLover: However, you're forgetting our powerful spirit and willingness to fight against all odds. While it might have been harder for us, a prolonged conflict could have also stressed the Turians and possibly fractured their rigid society. I think we could have eventually found common ground, but not without serious losses on both sides. LovetheStars: I see your point, @HumanHistoryLover, but we have to remember that during the First Contact War, we were at a significant disadvantage. We could have ended up with heavy sanctions or embargoes that would've set humanity back even further when trying to integrate into the wider galaxy. That being said, I do think Turians might have gained a grudging respect for us if the war dragged on--with our resilience on display. GreyExplorer32: Interesting thoughts, everyone. I believe that such a prolonged conflict might have forced the Citadel Council to intervene for the sake of galactic stability. An extended conflict involving the Turians could certainly affect the entire Citadel space. However, while Council intervention might have helped minimize the damage, it could have also led to more restrictions on humanity's expansion and integration into the galactic community. UNITY_since_2165: If the conflict had continued, humanity might have been forced to align with other species or factions outside the Citadel space. We saw it with the Alliance's eventual cooperation with the Quarians and the Krogan. A longer conflict could have shaped political alliances in a completely different way. CitadelSkeptic: Keep in mind, this all happ...
