He decides to tire himself out by running around in a game of tag, so he goes to wake up Bug, who agrees to play. Frog eventually gets sleepy, but now Bug is the one unable to sleep. Frog tells him to get snug and tries to recite the rhyme "snug as a bug in a...", but cannot remember the last word other than that it ends with "ug". He goes to make himself a mug of hot chocolate to help himself think, during which Bug realizes "mug" fits the rhyme. Frog builds a mug and Bug tries sleeping in it, but finds it too cold and hard, so the two go to seek help from Bear at her cave. Bug sees her nightlight and turns it off thinking she left it on by mistake, which wakes her up. Frog explains the problem and Bear tries giving Bug a "hug", though this ends up squishing him. Bug and Frog go to Pig's barn and find Pig making pancakes in his sleep. They see a "jug" of maple syrup and Bug gets stuck in its spout while trying to sleep in it. Pig hits the jug to try to unclog it, which sends Bug flying out the window and landing in Sheep's wool at her haystack. When Frog catches up, Bug tells him Sheep's wool feels cozy like a rug.
