The king called off the hunt for the dragon and made amends with Rose and her dragon friend. Rose returned home to her village, where she and the dragon continued to explore and play together. Years later, when Rose had grown into a wise and adventurous woman, she returned to the cave to visit her old friend. She found that the dragon had grown old and was no longer able to fly or play like it used to. But even in its old age, the dragon was still as wise and kind as ever.
