The need to express oneself through crude or offensive language has become a cornerstone of communication, becoming a means of emphasizing points or expressing emotions. As a result, conversation has lost some of its depth and nuance, becoming increasingly simplistic and crass. Social interaction, too, has been profoundly affected by the prevalence of obscenity. There are no longer any cultural or social expectations regarding polite or respectful behavior. Public displays of explicit behavior and language are considered ordinary, and any attempt to maintain a sense of decorum is seen as outdated and prudish.
