TIMOTHEE SHREK (V.O.) Somebody once told me... Smash Mouth is conspicuously absent from the soundtrack, replaced by a BANJO rendition of a popular indie ballad, which somehow works as we witness the silhouette of Timothee Shrek in mid-stretch, his angular frame very un-Shrek-like, more like a twiggy elf lost on his way from Rivendell. We follow Timothee Shrek as he steps outside, the morning mist hugging his lean physique. The camera tastefully pans around to show just a glimpse of his buttocks, which are surprisingly toned--clearly, our Shrek has been doing some swamp squats. His skin is not ordinarily ogre-textured but appears impossibly smooth, like someone dipped Michelangelo's David in a vat of seafoam paint. TIMOTHEE SHREK (Yawning) Ah, nothing like an invigorating morning in the swamp. With a huff, he PULLS a rope attached to a contraption in the trees above and is immediately deluged by a waterfall of glistening, goopy MUD, which splashes over him like a satirical health spa treatment. Timothee Shrek opens his mouth, gargling mud with a questionable sensuality, his expressive eyes wide as if embracing the absurdity of his new routine. Close-up on Timothee Shrek SPITTING out the last of the mud with an over-dramatic flourish, carelessly wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He moves over to a rusted mirror, hanging lopsided from a tree. He grabs a twig and begins brushing his teeth with a thick paste that bears an unsettling resemblance to slime mold. Timothy Shrek gives the mirror his signature disarming smile--a smile so charming, so dazzlingly out of place in an ogre's visage, that the mirror cannot handle the paradox. With an ear-shattering SCREECH, the glass CRACKLES and fractures, eventually SHATTERING. Timothy Shrek winces, a chunk of mirror dangling from his perfect teeth. TIMOTHEE SHREK Oops. Too much dazzle... He saunters towards a muddy pond and eases himself in with a contented sigh, reclining languidly like a renaissance painting. The water embraces him in slow motion, frogs hopping away in choreographed disgust. Suddenly, he lifts his leg...
