The absence of love and care from his mother left an indelible mark on Felix, manifested in his withdrawn and melancholic demeanor. His father, once a man with prospects and some semblance of happiness, descended into alcoholism and was consumed by his own anger and bitterness. Rendered unemployed, he sought solace at the bottom of a bottle, becoming increasingly violent, especially towards Felix, when inebriated. At school, Felix found no respite. His classmates, ensnared by the cruelty that children can unwittingly display, bullied him incessantly for his family's poverty and apparent timidity, ostracizing him to the fringes of the playground, if not further. His only comfort during these wretched years was his Pokemon, Lillipup, a loyal companion who provided emotional support and unconditional love in a life devoid of warmth. Lillipup was more than a pet; the Pokemon was a lifeline, an anchor in a tempestuous sea that continually threatened to pull Felix under. Tragedy struck when his inebriated father, in a fit of uncontrolled, drunken rage, took the life of Lillipup, extinguishing the last ember of hope in Felix's heart. With his spirit broken and no longer seeing a life worth living with his family, Felix fled--staggering out into the cold night while his father lay unconscious in a stupor. ...
