She'll make silly comments about how well he's doing, or ask him to perform ridiculous tasks like alphabetizing her bookshelf or watering her plants one leaf at a time. But even though his sister is clearly having a great time tormenting him, David can't help but feel a strange sense of peace and contentment. He has no worries or cares, no opinions or preferences - he's simply a machine, performing tasks as instructed. Eventually, the day starts to wind down and Jeannette's hypnosis begins to wear off. Ruth sighs, unsure of what to do. She can't deny that having someone else do her housework is kind of nice, but seeing her brother like this just doesn't feel right. "Why don't you take a break for a bit?" she suggests. "We can watch a movie or something." David nods obediently, grateful for the chance to rest. As they settle onto the couch together, Ruth can't help but think that maybe this whole hypnosis thing isn't all it's cracked up to be. She loves her brother, but she wants him to be himself, not some zombie under Jeannette's control. Maybe it's time to have a talk with him about setting some boundaries with his friend.

She gently touches David's shoulder and says, "Okay, David, you can wake up now." Suddenly, David blinks his eyes and snaps out of his trance. He looks around, bewildered, and says, "What happened? I don't remember anything." Jeannette's mum explains the situation to David and apologizes for the stunt. David is relieved to find out that he wasn't really hypnotized, but still feels a little disoriented from the experience. He thanks Jeannette's mum for the opportunity and promises to be more cautious in the future. From now on, he knows that he needs to question things more and make sure he's in control of his own actions.
