They're still unaware of its true identity as the Mind Flayer. STEVE I'm telling you, Robin... this thing's different. It was like it had a mind of its own. ROBIN Yeah, right. You make it sound like this creature is smarter than the one we dealt with last time. At that moment, the mall's lights begin to flicker mysteriously. STEVE I swear, every time I mention it, weird stuff happens. ROBIN Maybe we're just jinxing ourselves. Suddenly, the Mind Flayer appears from the shadows, possessing Steve and Robin. A dark cloud surrounds them, filling them with new personas. INT. STARcourt MALL - SCOOOPS AHOY - LATER Robin and Steve awaken from their possession, their behavior and mannerisms changed. Their friends Dustin, Mike, Eleven, and the rest of the gang enter the shop, oblivious to the changes in Steve and Robin. ROBIN (smirking) Well, look who finally decided to grace us with their presence. She gazes at her reflection in the ice cream scooper, admiring herself. STEVE (icily) If it weren't for your friends constantly needing our help, they wouldn't even be here. Robin drapes her arm around Steve possessively. ROBIN Well, at least we have each other. No one could ever compare to you, darling. STEVE (glares at the others) I won't let anything or anyone hurt you. Eleven tilts her head, sensing something is off with the duo. ROBIN We need to find the others. This place is giving me the creeps. STEVE Yeah, me too. Suddenly, Steve and Robin experience a strong chill and sense a dark presence. A shadow looms over them, and they feel their bodies being taken over by some supernatural force: the Mind Flayer. Steve doubles over in pain as he transforms into a cold, calculated, and physically stronger version of himself. His eyes go black, and his demeanor changes. Robin, however, suddenly stands tall and regal. She flicks her hair back with an air of self-absorption, her eyes filled with a poisonous mix of vanity and lust.
