The king he once vowed to protect with his life had grown cold and distant, pushing away his loyal servants with unreasonable demands and harsh punishments. Despite this, Sir Aldric remained at his post, driven by a sense of duty that was at once his greatest strength and his greatest weakness. His peers respected him, yet they often whispered about the skeletons in Sir Aldric's closet--a failed marriage burdened by his constant absence, a daughter estranged by his inability to balance the sword with the plow. Internal demons plagued him: guilt for his neglect, anger at injustices he felt powerless to rectify, and a sorrow for the world that seemed to slip further into chaos despite his best efforts.
