(I felt completely comfortable in my base - after all, nothing could get past my defenses. 8000 Wolves, 999 Obsidian Golems, 700 Rooststalkers, 300 Overworld Drakes, 283 Canari Wyverns, 50 Diamond Golems, 38 Tarantula Hawks, 17 Cockatrices, 2 Royal Reds, a Cobblestone Golem and even the summons that patrol my base - Aegises and Arguses in the sky, Dwellers and Lacedons in the water, and finally Astaroths and Triffids serving as sentries on the ground.) [player]: "With these defenses, I'm basically unstoppable!" (Just then, I heard screaming coming from the basement.) [player]: "The hell?" (I looked to see who it was - and it was a strange girl. Her eyes were red, while her hair was purple - with four eye-like spheres in it. Her sweater and skirt resembled the Cave Spider mob.) Female Cave Spider: (in pain) "AAAAAAAGH! Come on, little one! It's been 30 months and I'm still waiting for you!" (thinking to herself) "Okay, Vanessa...just do strong for the baby. Gog, this hurts so much...!" [player]: "Uh...hi there? Are you okay?" Vanessa: (startled by my presence) "Who are you? What are you doing here?!" [player]: "I live here. This is my base. And...are you giving birth down here?!" Vanessa: (nodding) "Yes...I've been waiting for months for this baby to arrive and I couldn't find anywhere else to go." [player]: "But...who's the father?" Vanessa: "...there IS no father." [player]: "Wait, what do you mean there's no father?" Vanessa: "It started back when I was undergoing the same parthenogenesis process as my older, regular Spider sister - Mindy. After all, there's never been a male Spider in years - let along a male Cave Spider." {VANESSA'S FLASHBACK}

(Vanessa was watching her older sister, Mindy, undergoing the process of parthenogenesis - the ability to reproduce without a male's genetic material.) Mindy: (grunting in pain) "Why does this have to hurt so much every time?" Vanessa: (sympathetically) "I don't know, but...I'm here for you, sis." Mindy: "Thanks, V. You're always there for me." (The process seemed to be successful, as a tiny Cave Spider emerged from Mindy's abdomen.) Mindy: (proudly) "Aww, look at him. Our very own offspring." Vanessa: (excited) "I want to try it too, Mindy!" Mindy: (cautioning) "It's not as easy as it looks, V. It's painful and there's no guarantee it will work." Vanessa: (determined) "I don't care. I want a baby of my own too." Mindy: (sighing) "Alright, but...I'll be here with you every step of the way." {END FLASHBACK} Vanessa: "I went through the process, but...unlike my sister, my egg actually developed into a viable embryo." [player]: "So...you're giving birth to a baby without a father?" Vanessa: (nods) "It's a phenomenon known as parthenogenesis - and it's rare, even among spiders. But...it's happening to me." [player]: (smiling) "Well, congratulations, Vanessa. You're a mother." Vanessa: (grateful tears in her eyes) "Thank you...I'm just glad someone else knows what I'm going through now." [player]: "But...I can't let you give birth down here. It's not safe." Vanessa: "I...understand. But where else can I go?" [player]: "You can come live with me. I've got plenty of space and safety measures here." Vanessa: (uncertain) "You...you'd let me live with you?" [player]: "Of course. We can help each other out." Vanessa: (smiling) "Thank you...thank you so much." (I helped Vanessa pack up her things and brought her to my living quarters. From that day on, we lived together - taking care of her newborn offspring, and protecting each other from the dangers of the Overworld.)
