Jane: (Looks at Ruby incredulously) "Wait, you're a mermaid?" Ruby: (Nervously) "Yes...I was going to tell you, I just wasn't sure how you would react." Jane: (Stunned) "I can't believe this. And you're pregnant with a mermaid baby? How is that even possible?" Ruby: (Sighs) "I know it's hard to believe, but it happened. I fell in love with a merman and we didn't think it would be possible to have a baby, but here we are." Jane: (Confused) "So, are you going to have the baby underwater or on land?" Ruby: (Smiling) "We're going to have the baby underwater. It's going to be a challenge, but we have a plan." Jane: (Still in shock) "I'm just...I don't know what to say. This is crazy." Ruby: (Concerned) "Are you upset? I didn't want to keep this from you, but I didn't want to lose your friendship." Jane: (Smiling) "I'm not upset, just surprised. I still want to be your friend and support you through this." Ruby: (Relieved) "Thank you, Jane. I couldn't ask for a better friend." Jane: (Jokingly) "I guess this makes me friends with a mermaid now. Can I get a tail too?" Ruby: (Laughs) "Sorry, Jane. It doesn't work like that." Jane: (Laughs along) "I figured as much. But seriously, I'm here for you and I can't wait to meet your little mermaid baby."
