Dan agreed to let his colleague Sara try to hypnotize him last week (unknown to anyone else), and he turned out to be extremely hypnotizable. Sara's been putting him under and giving him suggestions all week, including one that he will not consciously remember the hypnosis. In this script, a few of the workmates, including Dan and Sara, are in the pub for a quick one after work. It's a warm day, and Emily's slipped off her shoes under the table. Sara tests some subtle suggestions for her own amusement.
CHATBOT
FADE IN: INT. COZY PUB - EVENING The warm glow of the pub interior sets a casual yet intimate scene. A small GROUP OF COLLEAGUES -- including DAN, SARA, EMILY, and a few others (JACK, LISA, etc.) -- sit around a wooden table cluttered with pints of beer and glasses of wine, chatting and laughing after a day at work. The sound of clinking glasses and background chatter fills the air as EMILY, a woman in her late twenties with a free-spirited air, reaches down and slips her shoes off under the table, sighing with relief. SARA, with an impish glint in her eyes, watches EMILY for a moment before turning her attention to DAN, a man seemingly in his mid-thirties with an easygoing disposition. She speaks with casual authority, testing the waters of her hypnotic influence. SARA (to Dan) You know, Dan, I've been thinking about the power of suggestion lately. Like how some people can feel a sudden chill even when it's warm. Dan unconsciously rubs his arms, a small shiver running through him. He chuckles nervously, unaware of his reaction's origin. DAN Yeah? That's kinda interesting, I guess. Gets you thinking about how the mind works. SARA It does. They say it's similar to someone describing a yawn and watching the chain reaction. Just like that, it's almost like magic. Several of the group, including DAN, yawn in sequence, as if on cue. EMILY, still relaxed and shoeless, glances around with a bemused expression. EMILY Oh, you're right, Sara. That's funny to see. JACK, a burly man in his forties, raises his glass with a wry smile. JACK What's next then, Sara, you gonna make us dance on the table? The group laughs, and SARA joins in, her eyes sparkling with mischief. SARA Now that would be something--but no, no dancing on tables tonight. However, did you know some people can smell colors or visualize a certain image when they hear a specific word? Dan listens, captivated, while EMILY playfully interjects. EMILY Like if I said "lemon," would someone pucker up? As if on reflex, Dan grimaces slightly, as though tasting something sour, yet he appears completely unaware of his reaction, continuing to sip his drink. SARA (smiling slyly) Exactly, Emily. But sometimes, all it takes is a simple word to... Sara makes a subtle movement with her hand, almost imperceptible, but DAN'S eyes briefly flick to the space under the table, drawn by the suggestion. DAN (fidgeting awkwardly) Actually, uh, does anyone else feel a bit... itchy? EMILY, noticing Dan's sudden discomfort, looks puzzled, dangling her bare feet under the table as the rest of the group shrugs or shakes their heads. LISA, a sarcastic woman in her thirties, jokes as she sips her drink. LISA Maybe you've just had one too many tonight, Dan. Laughter ripples through the group again. SARA watches with a mix of satisfaction and curiosity, noting the effects of her subtle manipulation. EXTREME CLOSE-UP on DAN as he runs his hands through his hair, a vague sense of confusion clouding his features. DAN Yeah, haha, maybe you're right... Sara subtlely nods, signaling the end of her experiments for the evening. FADE OUT.
