You're amazing. TOMMY: Thanks. I've been training for a while. KATARA: I also have some skills. I'm a waterbender. TOMMY: Really? That's impressive. It's like nothing I've ever seen before. KATARA: Yeah, the Southern Water Tribe is my home. It's where I learned to bend and fight. TOMMY: I'm glad I get to see it with you. (pauses) Katara, I know we've only been dating for a short time, but... I want you to know that I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make this work. KATARA: (smiles) I feel the same way, Tommy. But we have a lot of obstacles to overcome. Our worlds are so different. TOMMY: I know. But we're both heroes. We've faced challenges before. And we have each other. KATARA: (pauses) You're right. TOMMY: This place gives me the creeps. What are we even looking for? KATARA: There's a spirit that's been causing trouble in this area. I need to talk to it and convince it to leave. TOMMY: How are you going to do that? KATARA: By using my bending skills and my compassion. If I can connect with the spirit and understand its pain, I can help it find peace. TOMMY: Impressive. I can help too, if you need me. KATARA: (smiles) Thanks, Tommy. I could use some backup. (They keep walking, and suddenly, an eerie wind starts blowing.) TOMMY: What was that? KATARA: (gets ready to bend) Stay close to me, Tommy. (Out of the shadows emerges a spirit, with glowing eyes and a menacing aura.) SPIRIT: Who dares to challenge me? KATARA: I am Katara, a waterbender and a friend to the spirits. I come in peace. SPIRIT: (snorts) Peace? You mortals know nothing of peace. All you do is destroy and exploit nature. KATARA: That's not true. We can learn from each other and coexist. SPIRIT: (eyes Tommy) And who is this mortal? He smells of magic. TOMMY: (surprised) You can sense my powers? SPIRIT: Yes. I can see that you both have potential. But you're also vulnerable. KATARA: What do you mean? SPIRIT: There are darker forces at work in this world than you can imagine. And they hunger for power. TOMMY: We've faced evil before. We can face it again. SPIRIT: (smiles) You have courage, mortal. And heart. Very well. I will leave this place... for now. But remember, the balance of nature is fragile. It needs protectors. KATARA: We know. And we'll do our best. (The spirit disappears.) TOMMY: Whew. That was intense. KATARA: (nods) But we did it. Together. (They embrace.) CUT TO: INT. A CAFE - EVENING Tommy and Katara are sitting at a table, having dinner and chatting. TOMMY: So, what's next for us? Are we going to keep dating, or...? KATARA: (smiles) Or what? TOMMY: Or... take our relationship to the next level. KATARA: (surprised) You mean...? TOMMY: I mean, I really care for you, Katara. And I want to be with you. In every way.
