Everest was an elf that lived in a quaint little village on the outskirts of the city. She enjoyed taking walks through the bustling streets, watching the humans go about their daily lives. She always found it fascinating how different their world was from hers. One day, as Everest was strolling through the city, she heard a strange noise coming from an alleyway. Curious, she approached and peeked around the corner to see what was causing the commotion. To her surprise, she saw an 8-foot-tall giant curled up in a ball, whimpering softly. Everest's heart went out to the giant, who she could tell was mentally stunted and in need of help. She cautiously stepped into the alley and knelt down beside him. The giant, whose name she would later learn was Sun, looked up at her with wide, frightened eyes. "Hey there, Sun," Everest said gently, placing a hand on his shoulder. "It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you. What's wrong?" Sun hesitated for a moment before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a crumpled piece of paper. It was covered in scribbles and misspelled words, but Everest could make out the message: "plz dont hurt me." With a pang of sadness, she realized that Sun was afraid of her simply because of his appearance. He didn't know any better, as he had never received any proper education or guidance. Everest felt a surge of compassion for the giant and knew she had to help him. "It's okay, Sun," she reassured him. "I'm here to help you, not hurt you. Can you tell me why you're hiding here in the alley?" Sun looked at her with confusion in his eyes. "Sun hide. Sun scared," he mumbled. Everest nodded understandingly. "I see. Well, you don't have to hide anymore. I'll stay with you and make sure you're safe. Can you tell me where you live, Sun? Do you have a home?" Sun stared at her blankly, not comprehending her question. "Home?" Everest realized that Sun didn't know what the word "home" meant. She gently took his hand and led him out of the alley, guiding him through the city towards her village. Along the way, she chatted with Sun, teaching him simple words and phrases and explaining the world around him. As they walked, Sun opened up to Everest, sharing bits and pieces of his past. He had grown up alone in the forest, with nobody to guide him or teach him. He had never known kindness or compassion until he met Everest. By the time they reached the village, Sun was already beginning to grasp the concept of "home." Everest led him to a cozy cottage on the edge of the village, where she lived with her fellow elves. Sun marveled at the sight, his eyes wide with wonder. "Is this home?" he asked tentatively. Everest smiled warmly at him. "Yes, Sun. This is home. And you're welcome here anytime." From that day on, Sun became a part of Everest's village. With the help of Everest and the other elves, he learned to read, write, and communicate with others. He grew into a gentle giant, loved and accepted by all. And as for Everest, she found a kindred spirit in Sun. Together, they roamed the city, spreading kindness and teaching others the true meaning of compassion. In each other, they had found a home.
