Title: "Risky Realities" INT. SMITH HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY The Smith family (RICK, MORTY, BETH, JERRY, and SUMMER) sit in the living room. RICK holds a small vial of amphetamine while JERRY looks skeptical. RICK You see, this little guy right here only has a bad rep because of few idiots who couldn't handle their high. JERRY (crosses arms) That still doesn't mean it's better than alcohol, Rick. MORTY Dad, maybe you should hear Rick out, I mean, he is the smartest man in the universe. RICK Damn right, Morty! Let Uncle Rick show you a little demonstration of why amphetamines are not as bad as alcohol. RICK tosses the vial of amphetamine into a portal which appears on the wall, transporting it to a distant planet inhabited by primitive beings. Moments later, the Smith family watch through the portal as the beings discover the vial. RICK Those beings have a biology similar to ours. Observe their reactions to amphetamines compared to alcohol. On the planet, one being ingests the amphetamine and begins cleaning and organizing their village at an impressive pace, while the others look surprised and amazed. BETH (stunned) Well, that's not what I was expecting. RICK Now, let's see what alcohol does to them. RICK tosses a bottle of scotch into the portal. The beings are soon shown fighting, shouting, and stumbling in a chaotic mess. SUMMER Yikes. They went from productive to mess monsters in no time. JERRY (dismissive) It doesn't mean alcohol is all bad, it's just a poorly managed reaction by their species. RICK (grinning) Ah, Jerry, always the contrarian. What do you say we try amphetamine and see its effects on us? JERRY Fine. But I get to choose the task to prove it's not as bad as alcohol. RICK Deal. INT. SMITH HOUSE - KITCHEN - LATER The family, excluding RICK, takes a small dose of amphetamine. RICK Okay, Jerry, what's your big task? JERRY (smirking) We'll see who can do the most chores around the house in one hour. INT. SMITH HOUSE - MONTAGE The family gets to work, completing chores at an incredibly fast pace - vacuuming, washing dishes, folding laundry, and cleaning windows. RICK watches, impressed with their speed and efficiency. INT. SMITH HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - HOUR LATER The family, exhausted but accomplished, gathers in the living room. JERRY (begrudgingly) Fine, Rick. Maybe amphetamines aren't as evil as I thought. But they're still dangerous, right? RICK (smirking) Jerry, pretty much anything can be dangerous if used irresponsibly. It's all about moderation, my friend. MORTY But, you know, alcohol can really mess people up, too. I think we should just respect each other's choices and not judge. RICK (mutters) Wow, I didn't think I'd ever agree with Morty. BETH So, we're all in agreement then. We can accept that some people might prefer one substance over the other but we should respect each other's choices and use responsibly. SUMMER (as she leaves the room) This has been the weirdest family intervention, but I'm glad we understand each other better. INT. SMITH HOUSE - RICK'S WORKSHOP - DAY RICK stores the vial of amphetamine in a locked drawer and walks away, satisfied. RICK (indulgent) I guess it's true what they say, nothing brings a family together like a good ol' fashioned experiment. End.
