INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY Jane, a 14-year-old girl, is sitting on the couch, reading a book. Her dad, GREG, enters the room, looking concerned. GREG (seriously) Jane, we need to talk. JANE (looking up from her book) What's up, Dad? GREG (sighs) Your mother and I have been discussing something important. We've decided that we want to have another baby. JANE (confused) But... we just had Lily a year ago. Why do you want another one already? GREG (worried) Well, you see, I recently found out that my sperm development isn't what it used to be. I'm getting older, and it's becoming more difficult for me to father a child. We don't want you to be an only child, and we think having a sibling will be good for you. JANE (still confused) But why now? Lily is still a baby, and I thought things were going fine. GREG (softening his tone) I know it may seem sudden, but it's something your mother and I have been thinking about for a while. We want to give Lily a companion while she grows up. JANE (sighs) Alright, Dad. If this is what you and Mom really want, then I guess I'll support it. A FEW WEEKS LATER INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY Jane and Lily are playing with toys on the floor. Suddenly, the doorbell rings. Greg opens the door to reveal a SOCIAL WORKER holding the hand of 8-year-old IZZY, who has special needs. Jane's eyes widen in surprise. GREG (excitedly) Jane, Lily, meet Izzy. We've adopted her as our new daughter. JANE (stunned) Izzy? But... I already know her. She's been my friend for months at school. Izzy shyly looks at Jane and smiles. IZZY (slightly nervous) Hi, Jane. JANE (grinning) Hi, Izzy. I can't believe you're my sister now! LILY (giggles) Sissy! They all laugh, forming a new bond as a family. FADE OUT.
