Scene: Jane is sitting on the couch, engrossed in a book. Her father, Mr. Williams, enters the room with a serious expression on his face. Mr. Williams: (sighs) Jane, can I talk to you for a moment? Jane: (looking up from her book) Sure, Dad. What's up? Mr. Williams: Well, your mother and I have been discussing something very important lately, and we wanted to get your thoughts on it too. Jane: (curious) Okay, what is it? Mr. Williams: We've been thinking about having another baby. Jane: (surprised) Another baby? But... we just had Lily a year ago. Mr. Williams: I know, sweetie, but as I'm getting older, my fertility is decreasing. It's becoming more difficult for us to conceive naturally. Jane: (confused) So, what are you trying to say? Mr. Williams: Well, we've decided to adopt a child. We believe that expanding our family is important, and there are so many kids out there who need loving homes. Your mother and I are ready to make that commitment. Jane: (thoughtful) Adoption? That's a big decision, Dad. But if it's what you and Mom want, I support you. Mr. Williams: (grateful) Thank you, Jane. Your opinion means a lot to us. We want our entire family to be on board with this. Jane: I understand, Dad. Have you thought about how this might affect Lily and all of us? Mr. Williams: Of course. We've consulted with professionals who have helped us consider the impact on our family dynamics and make the right choice. Jane: (nodding) That's good to hear. I just want what's best for all of us. Mr. Williams: I know, sweetheart. We're doing our best to make a well-informed decision that will bring more love and happiness into our lives. Jane: I appreciate that, Dad. You and Mom are amazing parents, and I have no doubt you'll be just as wonderful with our new sibling. Mr. Williams: Thank you for understanding, Jane. We love you so much. Jane: I love you too, Dad. And I'm here for anything you and Mom need during this process. Mr. Williams: That means the world to us, Jane. We're grateful to have you as our daughter. (They share a warm embrace before Mr. Williams exits the room to continue the adoption process)
