MC: "Experimental techniques? That doesn't sound safe." Kohana: "Trust me, they all signed waivers." MC: "I don't think that's enough to justify hurting people." Kohana: "Look, MC. We're trying to push the boundaries of literature here. And sometimes that means going to extreme measures. But I assure you, no one is in any real danger." MC: "I don't know if I believe you." Kohana: "Well, you can either trust me or not. But I need to get back to monitoring the experiment. You can stay and observe if you'd like." MC: "No, I don't want to be a part of this. I'll wait outside." (I left the clubroom feeling uneasy. This wasn't the literature club I had signed up for. Something had changed, and I didn't know what it was.)
