Jane: "Hey Sam, what's going on?" Sam: *tearfully* "Some kids at school were making fun of me again. They said my feet were too small and my socks were all torn up." Jane: "That's terrible. I'm sorry you had to go through that." Sam: "I don't understand why they have to be so mean. It's not like I can help the size of my feet or the fact that I don't have a lot of money to buy new socks." Jane: "You shouldn't have to deal with that kind of bullying. Have you talked to anyone about it?" Sam: "Not really. I don't want to be a bother or make things worse." Jane: "No, you're not a bother. You deserve to be happy and feel safe at school. We should definitely tell a teacher or counselor about what's been going on." Sam: "Do you really think that will help?" Jane: "It's worth a try. And if it doesn't, we'll figure something else out. I won't let you be bullied any longer." Sam: *smiling through tears* "Thanks, Jane. I'm really lucky to have a friend like you."
