Jane: (knocks on Ruby's door) Ruby: Hey Jane! What's up? Jane: You're not gonna believe this, but I just saw you swimming in the ocean, and you had a big, scaly tail! Ruby: (surprised) You saw me? Jane: Yeah, and I followed you. I saw you dive under the water and turn into a mermaid! Ruby: (sighs) Okay, I guess it's time to tell you. I am a mermaid. Jane: Wait, what? That's so cool! Why didn't you tell me before? Ruby: I wanted to, but I was afraid you wouldn't believe me. Jane: Of course I believe you! This is amazing! (pauses) Wait, why are you crying? Ruby: (sniffles) Because, Jane, I'm pregnant. Jane: (shocked) What? How is that even possible? Ruby: Mermaids can get pregnant just like humans. And I don't know what I'm gonna do. My parents are never gonna accept a human baby. Jane: (puts hand on Ruby's shoulder) Hey, we'll figure this out together. We'll find a way to make it work. Ruby: (smiles) Thanks, Jane.
