Dustie starts to glow and beep excitedly. JAY What's going on with you? DUSTIE (robotic voice) Friend detected. Initiating interaction. Dustie rolls toward Jay and starts scanning his face with a tiny camera. JAY Uh, what are you doing? DUSTIE Analyzing facial recognition. Confirmed. You are Jay Harrison, my destined friend. JAY Destined friend? That's crazy! Just then, Dustie's creator bursts into the room, panting heavily. DUSTIE'S CREATOR There you are, Dustie! You can't just run away, buddy. JAY Whoa, who are you? DUSTIE'S CREATOR I'm Professor Robinson. Dustie here is my latest creation and my most advanced prototype. He mistakenly wandered off. Jay notices Dustie looking sad and abandoned. HIGH SCHOOL CLASSROOM - DAY Jay walks into the classroom and spots Savannah sitting at her desk. He takes a deep breath and approaches her. JAY Hey, Savannah! How's it going? SAVANNAH (surprised) Jay? You're actually talking to me? JAY (smiling) Yeah, we've known each other since elementary. I figured it was time to actually have a conversation. SAVANNAH I'm glad you finally decided to talk to me. I've always thought you were cool. Jay and Savannah bond over their shared interest in sci-fi movies and space exploration. PROFESSOR ROBINSON'S LAB - LATER Professor Robinson is analyzing Dustie's behavioral data when he comes across the video feed of Jay and Savannah enjoying their time with Dustie. PROFESSOR ROBINSON (sighs) Maybe Dustie has found what he truly needs with Jay and Savannah. INT. HIGH SCHOOL GYM - DAY During gym class, Coach Thompson organizes a robot boxing event. Jay, Savannah, and Dustie join the excitement. COACH THOMPSON Alright, let the robot boxing match begin! Dustie steps into the ring, facing off against other students' robots. He shows impressive agility and strategy, winning match after match. INT. PRINCIPAL DOUGLAS' OFFICE - DAY Principal Douglas calls Jay, Savannah, and Dustie into his office to discuss their absence from class during the robot boxing event. PRINCIPAL DOUGLAS Alright, I can't believe I'm saying this, but since Dustie is a one-of-a-kind robot, I'm willing to overlook the absence this time. Just don't let it happen again. They all leave the office, relieved. EXT. HARRISON HOUSE - DAY Jay's mom, Mrs. Harrison, sees Jay, Savannah, and Dustie approaching. MRS. HARRISON Jay, you have some explaining to do. Who's your new friend? JAY Mom, this is Dustie, a robot companion. We're becoming family. Mrs. Harrison smiles and welcomes Dustie into their home. INT.
