INT. MOLLY-ROSE'S BEDROOM - DAY Jane and Aaron sit on Molly-Rose's bed, surrounded by posters of their favorite bands. Molly-Rose paces back and forth, frustration evident on her face. MOLLY-ROSE Ya lah, seriously, I don't get why people use "maybe" all the time. It's like, so indecisive, you know? Jane glances at Aaron, a confused expression on her face. JANE Huh? Molly, what are you talking about? Why do you hate the word "maybe"? Aaron stifles a laugh, his eyes twinkling mischievously. AARON Oh, you won't understand, Jane. This is Molly-Rose's famous "Manglish" rant. She's half-Malay, half-English and sometimes mixes both languages. It's a lingual adventure. Molly-Rose rolls her eyes playfully at Aaron, then turns back to Jane. MOLLY-ROSE Ya lah, Aaron can explain better. He's been trained to decode my random language switches. Aaron grins triumphantly, ready to embark on his role as the translator. AARON Alright, Jane. So, when Molly says "maybe," she means "barangkali" in Malay. She thinks it's this wishy-washy expression that doesn't give a definite answer. Jane's eyes widen, partly understanding Molly's frustration. JANE Ohh, I see! So, Molly, when people say "maybe," it bothers you because it doesn't provide a clear response? Molly-Rose nods enthusiastically, relieved that her point is getting across. MOLLY-ROSE Yes, exactly, Jane! It's like saying anything but a firm yes or no. It drives me crazy! Jane leans back on the bed, deep in thought. JANE I guess I never thought about it that way. "Maybe" is just a word I use when I'm not sure. But I understand your perspective now. Aaron nudges Molly-Rose teasingly. AARON See, Molly? It's not that strange. Jane's getting it. MOLLY-ROSE (sticks her tongue out at Aaron) Don't even, Aaron Ling! They all burst into laughter, the tension dissolving. Their friendship and understanding bridging any language gap that may have existed. FADE OUT.
