INT. JANE'S BEDROOM - DAY Jane, a quirky 14-year-old girl with glasses and a playful personality, is sitting cross-legged on her bed, engrossed in a comic book. Sam, her girlfriend, a cool and confident girl with short, dyed hair, enters the room and flops down on the bed next to Jane. Jane glances up from her comic book, smiling excitedly. JANE Hey, Samantha! You ready for some serious comic book geekery? Sam's face visibly scrunches up at the mention of her full name. She lets out an annoyed sigh. SAM Ugh, must you call me Samantha, Jane? You know how much I hate it. Jane looks a little taken aback by Sam's response, quickly closing her comic book. JANE Sorry, I didn't mean to annoy you. I just thought it would be fun to use your full name for once. Sam rolls her eyes, leaning back against the headboard. SAM It's not fun for me, Jane. I've told you multiple times how much I prefer being called Sam. Samantha feels so... formal, and it's not me. Jane's expression softens, realizing she has upset Sam. JANE I know, but it's just a name, right? I didn't think it would bother you this much. Sam sits up straight, her frustration evident in her voice. SAM Jane, it's more than just a name to me. It's a part of my identity. Sam is who I am, who I've always been. I don't want to be seen as someone formal or uptight. I want to be seen as me. Jane swallows, contemplating what Sam just said. She reaches out and gently takes Sam's hand in hers. JANE I'm sorry, Sam. I never realized how important this was to you. From now on, I promise to only call you Sam. No more Samantha, unless you want me to. Sam's tense shoulders relax, a small smile forming on her face. SAM Thank you, Jane. It means a lot to me. I don't want us to fight over something so silly. Jane squeezes Sam's hand, her own smile reflecting understanding and love. JANE I don't want that either, Sam. I care about you, and I want to respect who you are. We're a team, right? Sam nods, a sense of relief washing over her. SAM We definitely are. And for the record, I love geeking out over comics with you, Jane. Just remember, it's always Sam and never Samantha. Jane grins, leaning in to kiss Sam's cheek. JANE Deal. Now, let's get back to that serious comic book geekery I mentioned. Sam chuckles, leaning into Jane's side as they dive back into their shared world of superheroes and adventures. FADE OUT.
