(Jane and Ruby are sitting by a lake when Jane notices a strange fin on Ruby's back) Jane: "Um, Ruby, what's on your back?" Ruby: "Oh, that's just my tail. I'm a mermaid." Jane: (shocked) "You're a what?" Ruby: "A mermaid. Don't freak out, it's not that big of a deal." Jane: "Not that big of a deal? You're a freaking mermaid, Ruby!" Ruby: "Yeah, but it's not like I can go around telling everyone. It's kinda a secret." Jane: "Okay, I can deal with that. But why didn't you tell me before?" Ruby: "I wanted to, but I was afraid you would freak out." Jane: "Fair enough. So, how does this even work? I mean, can you breathe underwater?" Ruby: "Yeah, I can. And I also have these gills on my neck that help me breathe. Oh, and one more thing - I'm pregnant." Jane: (shocked once again) "What? How is that even possible?" Ruby: "Mermaids can get pregnant just like humans. Only difference is, we lay eggs instead of giving birth." Jane: "Wow, this is a lot to take in. But don't worry, I'll keep your secret safe." Ruby: "Thanks, Jane. And thanks for not freaking out too much."
