They see ANOTHER GROUP OF ENGINES working, including a small and mysterious engine, SKARLOEY. SKARLOEY Hello, Thomas! Are you here to solve the mystery too? THOMAS Absolutely! Tell us what you know, Skarloey. SKARLOEY Well, Luke disappeared while working here. One moment, he was here, and the next, he was gone. PERCY That's strange. Did anyone see what happened? JAMES What's that, Skarloey? SKARLOEY It's the old mine where the engines used to work. It's said to be haunted now. Suddenly, they hear a MYSTERIOUS SOUND coming from inside the mine. THOMAS Did you hear that? Let's investigate! INT. ABANDONED MINE - DAY THOMAS, JAMES, and SKARLOEY cautiously enter the abandoned mine. They come across LUKE, who is hiding in fear. THOMAS Luke! We found you! LUKE (Startled) Oh, thank goodness! I thought I was all alone! JAMES What happened, Luke? Why did you hide here? LUKE I discovered an old narrow gauge engine, named BERTRAM, stuck inside this mine. He was too scared to come out, and I didn't know if he was friendly or not. THOMAS You did the right thing, Luke. Sometimes, mysteries can be solved by helping others. PERCY suddenly enters the mine, panting. PERCY Guys, the other engines told me that Bertram has been missing for years! He's a legend around here. BERTRAM (Voice trembling) That's right. I've been stuck in here for ages. THOMAS Don't worry, Bertram. We'll get you out of here. The Steam Team, Luke, and Skarloey work together to FREE BERTRAM from the abandoned mine. EXT. BLUE MOUNTAIN QUARRY - DAY THOMAS, PERCY, JAMES, LUKE, and BERTRAM emerge from the abandoned mine. The rest of the Steam Team, ANOTHER GROUP OF ENGINES, and the FAT CONTROLLER are waiting outside. FAT CONTROLLER You've solved the mystery, Thomas! Well done, everyone! THOMAS Thank you, sir.
