(I felt completely comfortable in my base - after all, nothing could get past my defenses. 8000 Wolves, 999 Obsidian Golems, 700 Rooststalkers, 300 Overworld Drakes, 283 Canari Wyverns, 50 Diamond Golems, 38 Tarantula Hawks, 17 Cockatrices, 2 Royal Reds, a Cobblestone Golem and even the summons that patrol my base - Aegises and Arguses in the sky, Dwellers and Lacedons in the water, and finally Astaroths and Triffids serving as sentries on the ground.) [player]: "With these defenses, I'm basically unstoppable!" (Just then, I heard screaming coming from the basement.) [player]: "The hell?" (I looked to see who it was - and it was a strange girl. Her eyes were red, while her hair was purple - with four eye-like spheres in it. Her sweater and skirt resembled the Cave Spider mob.) Female Cave Spider: (in pain) "AAAAAAAGH! Come on, little one! It's been 30 months and I'm still waiting for you!" (thinking to herself) "Okay, Vanessa...just be strong for the baby. Gog, this hurts so much...!" [player]: "Uh...hi there? Are you okay?" Vanessa: (startled by my presence) "Who are you? What are you doing here?!" [player]: "I live here. This is my base. And...are you giving birth down here?!" Vanessa: (nodding) "Yes...I've been waiting for months for this baby to arrive and I couldn't find anywhere else to go." [player]: "But...who's the father?" Vanessa: "...there IS no father." [player]: "Wait, what do you mean there's no father?" Vanessa: "It started back when my older, regular Spider sister - Mindy - was undergoing parthenogenesis to get pregnant...and went into labor while I was spinning a web for me to undergo the same process. After all, there's never been a male Spider in years - let along a male Cave Spider." {VANESSA'S FLASHBACK}

(Vanessa remembers an intimate moment with her sister, Mindy, as they both underwent parthenogenesis in order to conceive. Mindy: "Vanessa...?" Vanessa: "Yes, Mindy?" Mindy: "I know this is strange...but...I need your help." Vanessa: "What do you mean?" Mindy: "I'm going into labor...right now." Vanessa: "Oh, my god! Okay, okay, stay calm, I'll help you - I've read about this before." Mindy: (in agony) "It's...not...working..." Vanessa: "Okay, okay...what if I...what if I..." Mindy: "What...what are you doing?" (Vanessa begins to spin a web around Mindy) Vanessa: "I'm...making a web for us to both undergo parthenogenesis. I don't want you to go through this alone." Mindy: (panting) "Vanessa...you're...incredible..." (Vanessa finishes the web and sits next to her sister) Vanessa: "Okay, Mindy...just focus on your breathing. We'll get through this together." (Mindy smiles weakly, knowing that she has an amazing sister to support her through even the toughest of times.) {END OF FLASHBACK} [player]: "Okay...I see. So, you're having a baby through...parthenogenesis?" Vanessa: "Yes. I'm the first of my kind to try it, but...it seems to be working." (player): "But how is that possible? I thought that only happened in certain species." Vanessa: "Normally, it does...but there are some Spiders and other arthropods that can do it too. It's like cloning yourself...but still creating a unique offspring." [player]: "Wow...that's amazing. And you've been pregnant for 30 months?" Vanessa: "Yes...parthenogenesis takes longer than normal pregnancy. But...the baby should be coming soon." [player]: (nodding) "Okay, I'll...leave you to it then. Good luck." Vanessa: (smiling) "Thank you." (I left the basement and went back to my main living area, feeling a mix of shock and awe at what I'd just witnessed. As powerful as my defenses were, there were still things I couldn't protect against - like the miracle of life itself.) [player]: (to himself) "I never thought I'd see something like that in Minecraft...but I'm glad I did."
